Informatie :
Stearic acid can be used to provide structure in bar soaps. In paper chemicals, stearic acid is used in the manufacture of solid AKDs. Stearic acid is used as the starting molecule in the vulcanization process for the manufacture of tires. Candle and crayon manufacturers have special needs to provide the proper hardening and lubricity when mixing stearic acid with paraffin. A Fatty acids do not have a pH. pH is a measure of acidity (or alkalinity) of an aqueous solution. Since fatty acids are insoluable in water, it is impossible to measure a fatty acids pH. We can say that generally people are asking this question because of the word acid in stearic acid. However stearic acid gets its name because of the terminating carboxylic acid group on the alkyl chain. Touching a piece of stearic acid will not burn your hand. The SAFETY DATA SHEET is Tefacid C20-22. This sheet is based on safety data sheet edited by APAG European association of Fatty Acid Producing companies.
